Projects

Over the past twenty years, tda® had the opportunity to engage and dazzle audiences all over Singapore with exciting performances, workshops and competitions. Through our team's shared love of DanceSport, tda® gives back and gets involved in a larger sense of community. Each project is a chance for us to grow in civic mindfulness and we strive to be a great resource to our students, offering opportunities for them to be active in a variety of social, character-building projects.

Got to move

Our annual multi-generational national dance event with the community under National Arts Council Singapore's dance movement, 'Got To Move' back in 2019 saw more than 300 participants with the partnership of Ang Mo Kio's WEC - Women's Integration Network.

Footwork

Footwork workshops is an initiative by Esplanade for their annual da:ns festival. Our professional instructors conducted 'Happy Feet', 'Parent & Kids' and Date Night workshops designed for adults aged 55 years old, youths and children with little or no experience in dance.

Footwork gives the general public an opportunity to learn popular dances from the experts and pick up some moves in the months leading up to the da:ns festival.

Cathay's feature film

Engaged as a sole dance consultant and coach for the feature film, 'My Sister Mambo', commissioned by the Cathay Organisation to mark their 80th Anniversary. Melvin and Sharon worked with the production team and cast to choreograph and design an unforgettable dance sequence. Filmed in 2015, it's available for viewing on Netflix!

Dance from the heart

For Singapore's 56th birthday, our team conducted a 4 part online dance workshop for families across the nation to learn the 'Singapore Cha-Cha' in a specially choreographed Latin ballroom dance. Despite being distanced away by Covid-19, we are able to create a virtual space for families and friends to bond in a uniquely Singaporean mass dance.

multi-generational barn dance

This dance workshop brought together different generations in a family together to learn traditional folk dance. The Barn Dance is a dance suitable for people who do not normally dance to come together and do simple and fun steps, without much stress of learning complex dance moves. The event even saw coverage on our local news channel, Team TDA's students and family members had the chance to perform live in the morning segment.

Peak diplomatic ball

Team TDA had the honour of performing for The Peak Magazine's Diplomatic Ball in both 2018 and 2019 which saw proceeds from ticket sales support the welfare of children and their families break out of the poverty cycle.
